Object Description
A fine Ancient Egyptian turquoise faience amulet depicting a pattern of four wedjat eyes, or Eyes of Horus, in an openwork design. The amulet is circular in shape, and the slightly domed obverse features five horizontal ridges, distinguished by carefully cut spaces. The central horizontal ridge represents the brow bone, from which each eye is carved at the corner. Additional, curving protrusions beneath the eyes represent the cheek markings and connect the edges of the amulet. The grooved edges denote the protruding brow and eye of the wedjat silhouette. The reverse is flat and features grooves mirroring the eye shapes. The amulet was perforated longitudinally for suspension, though this is now filled. Some wear, pitting and earthy encrustations are displayed to the surface.
