Object Description

A beautiful restrung Ancient Egyptian necklace consisting of two adjoined layers of short cylindrical beads. These alternate in red, yellow and blue faience. The necklace is finished with a small circular clasp.

Date: Circa 1550 – 655 BC
Period: New Kingdom – Third Intermediate Period
Provenance: Dr F. Janette Walen, the Netherlands, formed 1910-1940; and thence by descent with Archea Ancient Art, Amsterdam, October 2002. Ex Arnold Meijer collection, the Netherlands, acquired from the former. Ex Bonhams, London, Antiquities, July 2023, Lot 95.
