Object Description
A large Egyptian, steatite, scarab with inscribed hieroglyphs to the reverse. The obverse features a stylised head and slight indentations to form the humeral callosities. To the reverse multiple hieroglyphs are inscribed, including a central Horus hawk, seated and flanked by a ureaus to his left and a palm motif to his right. Above is the papyrus flower in bloom. The scarab is surrounded by an original gold mount.
The scarab has been pierced longitudinally for suspension.
