Object Description

A steatite Egyptian scarab with incised hieroglyphs to the reverse. The moulded obverse is detailed with particular attention paid to the clypeus, head and elytra. The reverse features a hunting scene with two lions to the left and an anthropomorphic figure to the right. The figure is depicted holding a bow. The scarab is pierced longitudinally for suspension.

Date: Circa 1292 – 1189 BC
Period: New Kingdom Period, 19th Dynasty

Ex private UK collection, Mr. DP, formerly acquired from a London dealership, BL, from 2004-2012.

Object Condition

Excellent condition. With clear detailing to the obverse and hieroglyps.
