Object Description
An ancient Egyptian, steatite scarab with a pattern of interlocking scrolls. The obverse displays a stylised head and an unadorned body. The sides of the scarab are decorated with linear incisions and short hatched lines, known as feathering, to represent its legs. The reverse displays an intricate and precise pattern of interlocking scrolls which is surrounded by an outline of hatched lines. The scrolls are symmetrical, consisting of curved, looping lines. The scarab has been pierced longitudinally for suspension.
