Object Description
A very fine Egyptian amulet of the Apis Bull, made from vibrant turquoise faience. The animal is typically depicted striding forward, standing on an integrated, rectangular plinth. Attention has been paid to the musculature of the bull’s legs and barrel-like body. His neck is wide and is marked with striations, echoing the folding skin of the bull. The animal’s head is gently moulded, depicting the almond-shaped eyes, protruding ears and rounded snout. Upon his head is a set of horns, flanking a solar disc. A very fine example with wonderful detailing.
