Object Description
A very elegant and fine quality French mahogany and brass bound two drawer writing table with H framed stretcher in the Louis XVI manner circa 1860-1870
The rectangular top with shaped corners having a newly fitted dark navy gilt and blind tooled leather writing insert enclosed by a mahogany border with a brass strapped edge.
Below which are two brass panelled oak lined frieze drawers with central brass escutcheons supported over four ring turned tapering brass fluted and columned legs united by a brass-edge H stretcher.
This excellent writing table is able to stand freely within the room as both the sides and back are finished in figured mahogany enclosed by a brass panelling.
Offered in excellent condition having been fully restored using traditional methods this fine and elegant writing table has a beautiful colour and finish.
