Elegant c. 1930 Kashan Carpet - Signed

Object Description

This elegant Kashan bears the signature of a well-known Master Weaver’s workshop that created high-end rugs of its generation.

This sophisticated example has a creative, well-balanced drawing and is framed by a tasteful border. The clarity of its drawing is attributed to its remarkable quality. The rare array of vegetable-dyed colours including: ivory, pale blue and grey are particularly pleasing, and have aged nicely over time.  These attributes are uncommon in this type of weaving.

Although this rug dates to the 1930’s, it has a very modern feel to it which is a sign of a truly talented artist.

A timeless example with versatility to compliment a variety of interior styles.

Object History

Antique Kashan carpets rank as one of the finest of all Persian weavings.

The city of Kashan was the centre of fine rug creation during the 16th century Safavid period and some of the best classical pieces are attributed to it. High category superior quality pieces were woven at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.

Object Condition

This fine Kashan carpet is in excellent condition, still retaining its original plain borders and fringes on all sides.
