Object Description
Antique Veramin rugs from Central Persia are recognised as exceptional workshop weavings, renowned for their remarkable quality, fine, crisp drawings and balanced variety of vegetable dyed colours.
This charming pomegranate design symbolises prosperity and longevity and is derived from early 18th century Azerbaijan rugs.
Hand spun in soft wool, this early example has a neutral colour field complementing the simple overall drawing and colour composition, in the central field, which is framed by a wide light blue border. The appealing array of vegetable dyed colours have aged nicely.
This Veramin rug is well preserved and practical for every day use. It still retains its fringes and borders on all sides.
A highly decorative rug with discrete elegance.
