Object Description
A very fine Doulton Lambeth stoneware preserve pot with a finely engraved silver-plated cover and rim together with a matched spoon, the pot designed by Elizabeth Hamilton and dated 1883. The pot is of bulbous rounded shape with a narrow foot widening with a raised narrower rim. The body is finely decorated with arabesque style panels with white slip foliage on a brown glazed ground and set within a surround decorated with small green leaved stems. The panels are repeated to four sides and the pot has impressed makers marks to the base along with incised and impressed marks for artist Elizabeth Hamilton and assistants Elizabeth A Gadson and Louisa Russell. The pot is dated 1883.
