A splendid canteen of Elizabeth II sterling silver cutlery for eight persons which has been made in the Royal York design and sits comfortably in a fitted box. This set consists of:
8 x table knives: 24 cms (9.4″) in length
8 x dessert knives: 21.4 cms (8.4″) in length
8 x table forks: 20 cms (7.9″) in length
8 x dessert forks: 17.6 cms (6.9″) in length
8 x dessert spoons: 17.5 cms (6.9″) in length
8 x soup spoons: 17.1 cms (6.7″) in length
8 x tea spoons: 13.5 cms (5.3″) in length
4 x serving spoons: 21.1 cms (8.3″) in length
2 x sauce ladles: 17.7 cms (7″) in length
1 x carving knife: 33.2 cms (13.1″) in length
1 x carving fork: 27.3 cms (10.7″) in length
1 x knife sharpener: 32.8 cms (12.9″) in length
This pretty and attractive silver set has been made to a high standard both in quality and design and it would grace any dining table perfectly. The cutlery was made by James Dixon & Sons Ltd. and the knife blades have the shop stamp of Garrard & Co. Ltd. as does the box. There are 65 pieces in total and it fits neatly in a box measuring 49 cms (19.2″) x 29 cms (11.4″) x 18 cms (7″). The cutlery set remains in excellent condition and it weighs 82.2 troy ounces (2,556 grams) without the knives.
