Elizabethan Altar Table

Object Description

Late Elizabethan Altar / Serving Table, circa 1590 – 1600.

Having a plank top with original cleats over the joined frame with deep gadroon carved frieze rail flanked by two pairs of donor/owners initials JC EC, with four boldly turned cups and cover style legs.

Object History

Purchased from Maurice Goldstone & Son, Bakewell, Derbyshire in the 1960’s.

Object Condition

Excellent original condition with exceptional colour and surface patination.
