Unidentified English Majolica fish server which features a long boat with a winged beast at its figurehead as the base. The lid in the form of a planked deck topped by a large fish. Colouration: green, brown, turquoise, are predominant.
Cover: Generally good. KILN EFFECTS: Lid is warped and does not sit perfectly on the base. RESTORATION. Both ends of cover reglued and joins retouched. Base: Generally good. Some small flakes here and there; uneven glaze application to the ground to interior; a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze. RESTORATION. Creature’s lower jaw reglued and join retouched. Filled chip to creature’s ear. Retouched flakes to wing.
