This type are renowned for their toughness and durability due to their construction. A very elegant piece with rich natural dyes, this carpet would look beautiful under a dining table. Woven with a deep indigo background with vivid warm reds, pinks, greens and gorgeous pale blue dyes in a beautiful all over design.
Rugs from Bidjar are very tough due to their structure which consists of usually five weft threads, two are loose wool threads followed by one taut cotton thread, then a further two loose wool threads. These are tightly beaten together against the knots, creating an extremely tight, compact rug. They tend to be floral in design, with the ‘Herati’ fish design commonly used in the main field and border.
