Object Description

This beautiful late 19th century antique Heriz carpet has just arrived into our inventory and we are delighted with it! It really is such a wonderful example with fantastic early muted dyes and in exceptional order.  The wool pile is very high all over this antique carpet as these carpets were known for their durability and iron properties used in the wool.  The colours and defined drawing of the medallion and corner areas are what make it such an interesting and desired carpet.  The pale yellows and duck egg blue tones add great charm to the madder red and deep blue dyes.

We offer the service of viewing any of our carpets & rugs in-situ in London, Surrey, Hampshire & the UK by appointment. Please request home visit service to view this antique Heriz carpet in your own home on a convenient day.

Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet.  A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and stood the test of time.

Object Condition

Condition wise as mentioned it is very good indeed, hardly any wear at all, both the ends are original and intact.  A very durable and decorative carpet ready to be used for another 100 years.
