A one-of-a-kind c.1930 solid mahogany and copper bookcase by French avant-garde modernist designer André Sornay (1902-2000), with a copy of the original drawing.
This exceptional solid mahogany bookcase is a unique and early example of his work. It was created especially by Sornay for a home in Lyon, where it had remained until now. A copy of his hand-drawn design shows the piece in its original setting.
A contemporary to Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand and Jean Prouvé, Sornay’s distinctive oeuvre is highly sought-after for contributing significantly to the era’s minimalist and modernist aesthetic.
Condition: Very good condition, with the original copper easel lamp (rewired and PAT tested)
