Object Description
Circa 1890. An exceptional quality Chinese Chippendale style mahogany armchair. The shaped and carved cresting rail with foliate carving to the sides, the back with classic Chinese pierced honeycombed pattern, two stylish arms supported on shaped uprights, a drop in seat recently re upholstered in water-silk. The shaped seat rail with a moulded fore edge with pierced quarter brackets, back legs are square and slightly out swept, front legs are square with chamfer and a reeded fore edge intersected by conforming stretchers.
