This beautiful silver-plated with cut glass set is contained by a large and superbly finished fitted wooden chest. The set comprises a mirrored surtout de table, a larger oval centrepiece (with spare glass bowl), two smaller oval centrepieces, six small circular centrepieces (with spare glass bowl), six coasters, and thirty-six dessert spoons. The exceptional quality of this set is typical of the work of Elkington, one of the leading manufacturers of silverware working in England during the 19th Century. Each piece is marked to the underside and the chest is stamped to its lock-plate.
