Object Description

Dating from the last quarter of the 17th century and with a period tapestry fragment cover, this walnut stool certainly has a presence.

Raised on the original solid walnut bun feet, the four finely carved barley or Solomonic twist legs are each joined by periphery stretchers of the same form. The stool is covered in a beautiful 17th century tapestry fragment depicting a hunting horn, rope and foliage.

It should be noted that very few examples in walnut have survived from the Baroque period. This model is very sophisticated in its form and is in original well patinated condition.

Object Condition

Exceptional condition with all original rails and bun feet.

Period tapestry fragment cover.
