Object Description

This fine George II silver tea caddy was made in London in 1759 by John Langford and John Sebille and measure 3.5 inches long by 2.5 inches wide and stands 6.25 inches tall, it has a bead border to the top and bottom of the body along with the pull off lid border, the canted corners and the main body has garlands of belle flowers running around it and it is engraved below the opening with leaves and a shell to each shoulder, the pull off lid has a shaped leaf and flower head finial and there is a scrolled leaf to each corner which is repeated at the base by a larger one and an open scrolled and cast foot. It is fully hallmarked underneath and to the lid rim with the lion passant, a fine quality caddy weighing 13.00 ounces or 405 grams.
