Object Description

This fine pair of armorial George II silver sauce or gravy boats were made in London in 1738 by John Pollock, they measure 7.5 inches handle to spout by 4.25 inches wide and are 3.25 inches tall to the lip, the bowls have 4 fluted lines and they have a lovely coat of arms to the side and stand on 3 cast lions mask legs with hairy paw feet, they have a scrolled and cast handle which attaches to the body at the base with a graduated fixture and at the top with an unusually shaped terminal, the scrolled thumb piece is acanthus leaf and they are fully hallmarked under the base (makers mark lightly struck) The quality is outstanding as is the condition and they weigh 27 ounces or 840 grams.
