A fine pair of 18th century (circa 1770) Italian walnut stools in the 16th century style.
This pair of stools consist of solid walnut tops (one possibly a later replacement) with fluted edge and foliate design to each corner, this leads down to a lower carved and shaped fluted moulding.
The bases consist of a shaped and carved front and back with central bird and scroll decoration, with some losses, the shaped and carved trestle end supports with floral and foliate decoration, also with some losses.
The stools are supported on tapered legs with carved moulding below, terminating on bold carved hairy paw feet.
This pair of stools are in good condition for age, as mentioned with some losses, they are of stable construction and can go straight into a home – these are very versatile pieces as could be used as stools, occasional tables or stands. etc.
