Object Description
A delightful pair of ebonised amboyna and pollard oak banded pier cabinets dating to 1860.
This pair of cabinets are of the highest quality being finely inlaid and banded with amboyna, pollard oak and boxwood stringing.
The shaped rectangular tops, with a banded border and gilt brass beading having square corners, sit over a glazed panelled door retaining two inlaid shelves with the interior having been recently relined in a suede type fabric.
The corners have a gilt ormolu Corinthian column capital, mid section and base, with columns being portrayed by inlaid veneers.
The sides being strung with boxwood and bases are again adorned with amboyna and pollard oak inlaid panels.
In excellent condition having been fully restored this very rare pair of pier cabinets have become hard to find nowadays and are extremely sought after.
Please note that these are a true pair of cabinets with the doors opening to opposing sides.
