Object Description
This fantastic pair of cast William IV silver Chinoiserie caddies were made in London in 1833 by John Wakefield and measure 6.5 inches tall by 4.5 inches wide and are 3.5 inches across the base by 2 13/16 inches deep, they are decorated in the Chinoiserie style and have cast open feet with acanthus terminals vacant shaped cartouches to the fronts with flower heads and foliage in abundance and 4 cast terminals to the shoulders and the lift off lid have foliage and scroll detail with lovely flower heads and trailing vines. They are fully hallmarked to the shoulders and inside the lids and also on the finials and with the lion passant on the securing screws to the finials. They are in excellent condition and the decoration is as crisp as the day they were made, a magnificent pair of caddies!
