Object Description

A fine quality set of eight carved walnut cabriole legged leather upholstered dining chairs, in the Queen Anne style, consisting of two carvers and six single chairs.

English circa 1910.

Of generous proportions, the rectangular shaped leathered stuff over backs with top curved re-entrant corners. The wide upholstered seat of tapering section decorated with a twin brass close nailed finish running the perimeter and following around the back.

The carvers, of slightly larger proportions, with shaped walnut shepherds crook arms having carved bell flowers to the supports. Raised on finely carved cabriole front legs consisting of a crisp triple carved shell to the knee with hanging bell flowers flanked, by C-scrolls and acanthus leaf carved ears, finishing on a ball and webbed knuckled claw foot. The rear legs being splayed, ending on a square cut pad foot.

Offered in excellent condition having been recently upholstered in a fine quality hand dyed and antiqued leather. The timber of an extremely good colour and condition having been wax polished boasting a lovely warm walnut glow.

This set of 8 large dining chairs have a superb shape and the carving is of the finest quality.
Note it is very rare to find a set with fully upholstered backs.
