Object Description
A very fine set of four late 19th Century Northern Italian Neo-classical painted open armchairs / fauteuils.
Northern Italy, circa 1880-1900.
Of unusual form, these extremely well executed armchairs retain the original untouched green and gold painted finish with a superb patina.
Neo-classical in design, the rectangular backs having unusual reeded sweeping arms supported by stop-fluted leaf carved columns, between an upholstered padded back and softly sprung seat, above a floral carved panelled frieze, raised on reeded front and rear sabre legs.
In excellent original condition with the paintwork having the best patina we have seen in years, the material has been recovered which works very well and in good condition with the original upholstery below.
A rare set of four very well designed and stylish armchairs in beautiful original condition.
These chairs are priced as four but can be split into pairs if required.
