Object Description
Fine small Louis period side or writing table, a so-called “table écritoire” of rectangular shape, standing on four slender tapering legs with bronze sabots. The table comprises of three front drawers, the top drawer reveiling compartments for inkwells and quills as a removable wooden cover for hiding important things. The top as well as the front drawers, the sides and the corresponding stretcher at the lower part of the table are decorated with mirrored parquetry with green colored banding. To prevent writing tools from falling off the table, the top is surrounded by a small wooden gallery.
