Object Description
Exquisitely made French 1940s sycamore and oak oval cabinet, the doors are laid with an orientalist pair of carved phoenixes. The subtle combination of pale sycamore and warmer oak on an elegantly clean lined cabinet surmounted with curvilinear carved motifs is a hallmark of French furniture of the Forties. Clearly the work of a master cabinet maker, very much in the style of Andre Arbus. The doors are fitted with a discreet lock with a beautifully cast bevelled bronze key.
