French Antique Gold Aide Memoire, France Circa 1820.

Object Description

A very beautiful Palais Royal solid gold and real mother of pearl writing companion in the form of a book. Superbly engraved on both sides with sprays of flowers and fitted with a solid gold propelling pencil. By removing the pen, this fine piece opens to reveal a yellow silk interior with blank notepaper.

Marks. Stamped on the pen and the top end of the book spine with a French ram’s head gold mark probably 18 carat.

Object Condition

The book is in very good used condition. The interior is clean. The front cover pearl has a wear mark. The gold hinge has signs of a small repair near the gold mark (see photo) and the pen has several tiny dinks.
