French Belle Époque bronze and stained glass doors
French, 1896
Each door: Height 210cm, width 41cm (82cm when together), depth 10cm
This magnificent pair of doors is crafted from bronze and stained glass. Each door contains arched-top stained-glass windows, the windows featuring trellis leaded decoration and a central cartouche containing a monogram that perhaps reads XR, or Chi-Rho, a Christogram. The bronze panels below are likewise set with this monogram.
