French Provencal 18th Century Giltwood and Painted Trumeau Mirror

Object Description

Louis XVI carved giltwood and dark grey painted trumeau mirror, its rectangular mirror frame carved with kyma and beading, surmounted by an elaborated carved panel, decorated with a fruit filled basket above a stylised straw hat flanked by birds amid foliate branches of vine and olives. The panel filled with attributes symbolizing a wedding themed gift. The gilding with beautiful patina, bole bleeding through, the dark grey painted background with some refreshed areas, mirror plate with corroded areas.
