Rosewood Campaign Clock, Savoine a Paris

Rosewood campaign clock with satinwood line stringing and floral marquetry standing on a moulded plinth. Glazed viewing aperture to the to of the case and surmounted by a decorative carrying handle.
Enamel dial with Roman numerals, original ‘blued’ steel Moonpoise hands, signed Savoine a Paris.
Eight day French movement with outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The back plate also signed Savoine a Paris and stamped for Japy Freres. C.1850
Japy Freres were widely regarded as the leading French makers of the day located in the town of Beacourt in Eastern France founded in 1806 and ceased trading in the late 1930’s

Object Condition

very good condition, the clock movement has been completely stripped down and serviced and is in full working order
