French Vernis Martin mantel clock with ormolu mounts. Beautifully decorated case featuring floral swags and foliage with central lovers scene to the front of the case.
Enamel dial with Roman numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands.

‘Vincenti et Cie’, clockmakers won silver medals for examples of their work at the Paris exhibition in 1834 and again in 1855. He was especially noted for his highly decorative mantel clocks including those with inlaid Boullework such as this one. This type of Boulle work was enjoying a revival in France in the mid nineteenth century.
