Object Description

A particularly small, slim and well proportioned strike fusee bracket clock, by Pike, Eltham, dated c.1810-1820

The classic mahogany lancet topped case has delicate geometric boxwood stringing. The case benefits from having all of its original brasswork. The 4-inch convex painted Roman dial is signed for PIKE, ELTHAM.

The dial has in the past been restored very well.

Steel Breguet-style hands.

The eight day movement has two fusee trains and strikes the hours on a bell.

Object History

James Pike is recorded in Baillie’s as working 1805-8, but Loomes extends these dates to 1832. A John Pike is also listed at Eltham, for the dates 1820-42.

Object Condition

Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.
