Object Description
Early 18th century George 1st red walnut kneehole desk of small proportions in pretty much original condition. The top and drawers are all cross banded in English straight grain walnut. The drawers are all oak lined with original steel locks and gorgeous original engraved brass handles. Stands on original tall bracket feet. The central cupboard has similar engraved brass hinges and escution plate with original steel lock with working key. The whole piece is a nice colour with good patination and a waxed finish.
As you would expect of a piece of this age there are a few old veneer repairs mainly to the cross banding on the drawer fronts but it is basically in pretty decent condition.
Would work as a small desk or a Ladies dressing table.
