Object Description
An Attractive George II Period Walnut Wall Mirror Having Elegant Fret Carved Frame, With Central Set Gilt Cartouche Surmounted To Top, Enclosing Replacement Old Rectangular Mirror Plate Set Within Attractive Gilded Border.
A very attractive 18th century mirror of typical but attractive form which is a very useful small size. In fact it is almost the perfect size to complement a much larger, but similar, example on a big piece of wall space, or in the same room to continue a style, but also it is a great size to make a feature of by itself in a smaller room or wall space.
The surface and patina is good and it is a really attractive piece indeed. The gilding also remains in relatively good condition and has a lovely old lustre to it.
The actual mirror plate itself has been replaced at some point in the not to distant past, which of course makes it functional and its nice that when replaced previously the owner went to the trouble of putting a nicely bevelled piece of glass in place.
There are a few minor old breaks and repairs to the frame, but certainly nothing of consequence or concern and these are all historic, having been well repaired.
As with all our objects this Georgian Walnut Mirror has been inspected by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale. That means it is in good condition and ready for immediate placement within the home following purchase.
