Object Description
A superb and large George II Walnut Open Armchair with a vase shaped central back splat flanked by unusual bold sweeping arms with scrolled details, drop in seat and raised on turned tapering legs terminating in pad feet and united by a turned, shaped stretcher. It is interesting to note the shoulders of this chair have been strengthened with brass inserts. This is an indication of both the size and weight of the patron for whom this outstanding example was made.
