Object Description
A Good Quality George III Period Late 18th Century Mahogany Bowfronted Chest, Having Well Figured Top With Ebonised Strung Decoration To Edge, Over Three Long Drawers, With Replacement Oval Brass Plate Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Splayed Bracket Feet And Shaped Apron.
A good quality and practical georgian mahogany bow front chest of drawers which is slightly better quality than many which can be found from a similar period, whilst being significantly more affordable than earlier examples.
From a practicality perspective it is a great size, which opens up the possibility of being able to use it in a much wider selection of environments and it would even make a fabulous bedside chest of drawers.
The brass handles are replacements, it has had various handles and knobs in place previously, but the current oval plates sit nicely on the chest and add to the overall elegance of the piece. It also retains its original splay bracket feet which are a little taller than normal, allowing for the shaped apron and meaning the chest stands up very proudly with additional elegance.
As with all items which we offer for sale this antique chest of drawers has been inspected and attended to in our workshops, by our highly skilled, trained antique furniture restoration specialists and received a natural wax polish to ensure it is ready for immediate placement within the home.
