Object Description

George Jones & Sons Majolica cheese keep which features a picket fence, daisies, corn, brambles and a twig handle. Colouration: turquoise, green, ochre, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the George Jones & Sons pottery. Book reference ,’George Jones Ceramics 1861-1951′ by Robert Cluett, page 69, figure 129.

Object Condition

Cover: Generally good. RESTORATION. Filled chip to branch end on handle. Another filled chip to handle. Stabilised and retouched crack running up the side. Stand: Good. A few flakes to the rim. KILN EFFECTS: uneven glaze application to the rim; stained crazing to the rim. RESTORATION. Filled chip to rim.
