A Very Good Quality Mid 18th Century Chippendale Period Georgian Mahogany Chest, Having Well Figured Top Over Slide And Four Long Drawers, Retaining Original Brass Swan Neck Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Shaped Bracket Feet.
Whilst a relatively commonly found design and form for a Georgian Chest of this period, this particualr chest boasts some exceptional features which set it apart from many. These include the exceptional quality of construction, the use of the well figured, rich mahogany timbers and the practical dimensions.
The colour and patina throughout remain excellent and overall it is in good condition with very little restoration, or damage of consequence to speak of. The retention of its original brass handles and its original bracket feet is another indicator of how well loved and cherished this item has been throughout the years of its life.
Perfect for use in a variety of different rooms around the home this chest is incredibly functional and is still as fit for purpose as the day it was made. It’s even just about small enough to serve a purpose as a bedside table if required.
