Object Description

A Very Good Quality Late 18th Century Mahogany Bowfronted Dressing Table, Having Well Figured Top Over One Long And Two Short Drawers With Attractive Crossbanded Decoration And Replacement Brass Knobs, Raised On Four Elegant Square Tapered Legs.

This attractive little side table dates to the Hepplewhite period, towards the end of the late 18th century. It is constructed from good quality mahogany timber and retains an attractive colour and patina.

Dressing tables are of course extremely functional and can be used in a wide variety of spaces around the home, especially ones which are as small and elegant as this. It would be perfect as a bedside table, hall table, with a lamp on in a the corner of the room, or of course for its original purpose as a dressing table in the bedroom, or dressing room, with a small dressing table mirror perched on top.

Despite the brass knobs being replacements they work well on the table and very much add to the overall elegance and quality feel of the table.

There is no major defects, or damage to speak of aside from the expected old marks and scuffs which now of course blend nicely into the surface of the piece.

As with all items which we offer for sale, it has been attended to by our highly skilled, specialist antique furniture restorers in our workshops and received a traditional wax polish before being offered for sale, ensuring that it is ready for immediate placement into the home or office.
