Object Description

A Very Good Quality George II Period, 18th Century, Mahogany Dressing Table Mirror, Having Elegantly Shaped Mirror Plate Enclosed Within Giled Slip, Above Well Figured Base And Three Drawers With Original Brasswear, Raised On Original Ogee Shaped Bracket Feet.

Dressing table mirrors, often referred to as “toilet mirrors”were made from the beginning of the 18th Century onwards.

Designed to sit atop a dressing table, or chest of drawers, in the bedroom or dressing room they are found in a huge variety of sizes, woods, shapes, sizes and qualities.

This is a nice early example, George II as opposed to George III or later like most that can be found, dating of course to the early 18th Century, plus it is constructed from rich mahogany timbers which retain a good untouched colour and patina.

Although originally designed to sit on top of a dressing table it is of course most versatile and would suit a whole variety of locations around the home.

As is pretty much standard on these items the mirror plate is replaced, but not brand absolutely brand new and it is therefore very much fit for its original purpose. Overall the item is in very good condition and has received a natural wax polish by our restorers before being offered for sale.
