Object Description

A Very Good Quality Early 19th Century George III
Period Mahogany Drum Table Having Well Figured Circular
Rotating Top Raised On Elegant Turned Column And Four Splayed
Legs Terminating On Original Brass Castors

(Often referred to as rent tables due to the fact that landlords
would sometimes use them as a desk for keeping accounts of rent
money that was due and had been paid, drum tables are
extremely popular items of furniture. They can be used in a
variety of different spaces around the home including entrance
halls, libraries, studies and living rooms and generally add a real
elegance as well as having excellent function. This one is an interesting
and rare example having retained it’s solid mahogany top, rather than
a leathered top like 95% that can be found on the market. There was
not a huge amount made with solid mahogany tops in the first place
and over the years the majority of those that were have since been
converted to leather tops. As is relatively standard with this type of
table it is easy to dismantle into two parts, making it very easy to
transport or position into any room of your choice)
