Object Description
A Good Quality And Attractive Late 18th Century Georgian Mahogany Lamp Table Having Well Figured Rectangular Top Over Two Frieze Drawers With Replacement Brass Knobs Raised On Elegant Turned Legs With Original Brass Castors
This table is of typical design for the late 18th century and could easily be referred to as a work table, occasional table, bedside table, or even just small side table.
It is universally useful de to its small size and two drawers. The mahogany which it is constructed from is of a good grade and has been well selected and despite the piece being relatively plain in form the cabinet maker clearly had elegance at the forefront of his mind when constructing the piece.
The brass knobs are relatively recent replacements, for what would almost certainly have originally been wooden knobs, but the brass castors are original.
This useful little table would be perfect in a small hallway, alongside a settee or chair in the living room, or even as a bedside table. The possibilities are endless! But one thing we do know for sure is that wherever it ends up it will definitely add a touch of class as well as elegance to the room.
