Georgian Longcase Clock by John Taylor, London
Finely figured flame mahogany case with stepped shaped plinth and inset panel to the base. Long break arch top trunk door with raised moulding and brass escutcheon. Break arch hood with supporting side pillars with brass capitals.
Brass dial with gilded corner spandrels and finely matted centre. Raised silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, calendar aperture and silvered subsidiary dial for seconds signed to the centre John Taylor, London. Strike / silent to the arch. Original finely pierced ‘blued’ steel hands.
Exceptional quality eight day movement with anchor escapement, original brass cased weights and pendulum. The movement striking the hours on a centrally mounted bell. C.1780
