Object Description

A Very Good Quality 18th Century, Georgian Hepplewhite Period Mahogany Chest, Of Elegant Serpentine Form, Having Well Figured Top Over Three Long Drawers, With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Elegant Original Splayed Bracket Feet, Retaining Exceptional Rich Colour And Patina Throughout.

This is a particularly elegant Georgian mahogany chest of drawers, boasting a bold serpentine form and elegant splayed feet. It is also relatively low, of what sometimes gets referred to in the trade as commode type proportions, and this adds even further to the overall elegance of the piece.

It retains an exceptional rich colour and patina to the well figured, dense mahogany timbers and this is clearly a result of it having been much loved and looked after throughout its life.

The brass handles are later replacements, however they are very much in keeping stylistically with the late 18th century, so work perfectly well on a hepplewhite period mahogany chest of drawers.

The overall quality of the construction, in combination with the practical, small size mean that this chest is absolutely perfect for a whole host of spaces around the home, or even office.

Overall the condition is good, with working locks and keys and having been attended to by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers we can assure you that it is in good, retail condition and ready to go into immediate use.
