Object Description

A Very Attractive And Good Quality Late 18th Century Georgian Oak Dresser Base, Retaining Good Colour And Patina Throughout, Having Five Drawers, To Elegant Arched Frieze, With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Turned Upright Supports With Original Potboard Shelf Below.

Practical, functional, elegant, full of character, and retaining its original potboard shelf are just a small selection of the features which this lovely 18th Century dresser base can boast.

Retaining an excellent colour and patina, it has clearly been well used, but also well loved and looked after over the 200 years plus of its existence. Aside from the relatively standard and expected old marks, scuffs, scrapes, scratches, and dents there is very little restoration, or damage to speak of, and as with all the items we offer for sale this Georgian Dresser Base has been attended to by our highly skilled restorers and naturally waxed in the traditional manner before being presented for sale.

As the name suggests a potboard shelf was originally designed to store the pots and pans and the fact these pots and pans were often either wet, heavy or even still hot is the reason that they will often be replaced, or damaged beyond sensible restoration

Perfect for a variety of places around home this dresser base would look beautiful along a wall in a narrow hallway, on the back of a large settee, in a kitchen/dining room, or even in a living room due to its relatively restrained form.

Wherever you choose to use it we are sure that it will add a touch of real elegance to the room as well as providing some valuable extra functionality and storage.
