Object Description

A Very Good Quality George III, Sheraton Period, Satinwood Demi Lune Shaped Tea Table Having Exceptionally Well Figured Folding Top, With Wide Crossbanded Decoration, Over Inlaid Frieze Raised On Elegant Square Tapering Legs.

Tea tables, as the name suggests were made to serve tea from. Often part of a pair, with an identical matching card table, or even a wider suite of furniture they would simply stand to one side in a room and be pulled out, then opened up when required to allow for the placement of trays containing all that is required to serve tea from.

Now of course aside from its original purpose this table suits a whole variety of different spaces around the home. It could be used as a console table, a pier table, a simple side table or even as a card games table.

Constructed from well figured, high grade satinwood which would have been expensive to purchase in the late 18th century it is very elegant and very good quality. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into the overall look of the table and the cabinet making has been well executed.

As with all items which we offer for sale it has been through our workshops, where our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers have inspected it and given it a natural wax polish, ensuring that it is ready to be placed straight into the home.
