Ebonised and brass case with cast brass bezel opening to the enamel dial with Arabic numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands.
Beautifully engraved thirty hour movement signed James Hawke, Bury St Edmunds and numbered 403 c.1790
‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists James Hawke as working in Bury St Edmunds (Suffolk) in the late 18th century.
