Object Description
A Gillows of Lancaster Aesthetic Movement oak library desk. The moulded edge top with original brass gallery and green leather writing surface, this having a gilt tooled edge with William Morris decoration. The central frieze drawer is stamped Gillow&Co Lancaster with the date stamp serial number L 5205 which is for 1876, four graduated oak lined drawers either side each retaining their original brass handles. The panelled sides have geometric decoration and the reverse side of the desk has two cupboard doors each opening to a compartmented interior, the desk stands on bracket feet with shaped aprons to the front and rear side.
